Moonshadow Grille at the Avi Casino

Laughlin, NV
Dinner at the Moonshadow Grille - Restaurant Review
Avi Casino Resort

The Avi is a bit off our normal path but we have been wanting to try the Moonshadow Grille for a long time. After a recent dinner, we were wondering why we waited so long!

We were seated right away, though they do recommend reservations. Our servers brought water, rolls, a wine list, and took drink orders promptly.   The decor is nice and fits the theme.  Tables and booths are available, and the restaurant is far away enough from the Casino floor that is it pleasant with no noise drifting in.

Bread Basket

Lobster Bisque

The Lobster Bisque (ordered as an appetizer) was one of the best we have ever had.  The server warmed the brandy table side and added it while it was flaming to the Bisque. Fresh cream was also added. The Lobster chunks were very plentiful in the bisque, way more than one would expect.  For $9.50 (a big bowl, not a cup) this was a delicious choice.

Dinner Salad

Blue Cheese Dressing Served on the Side

Salads were next and served just the right size, very fresh.  We always get the Blue Cheese and this one was excellent, served on the side with crumbles on top.

Filet Mignon - Regular Size

For the main course we both ordered the Filet Mignon.  There were so many other tempting menu items but we came for steak so decided to try the best they had to offer.  The Filet was as good or perhaps almost better than the one we had at the Range Steakhouse (Harrah's Laughlin) and Ruth Chris (Harrah's Vegas) recently.

We ordered one Petite and one Regular size and both were cooked perfectly as ordered. They were tender, juicy, and a nice cut of steak. The Petite ($31) looked to be about 6 ounces, and the regular close to 10 ounces, so they were very good sized.  A side of either baked potato, garlic mashed potatoes, fries, four cheese macaroni or pecan wild rice with fresh seasonal vegetables is included with the entree orders.  There is no need to add on an à la carte side dish here as in some other Steakhouses.

We were far to full to even attempt dessert but will be back another time soon and try to leave room.

There are many other items we saw on the menu that look good and we would like to try.  If you don't want steak they also have some fish choices such as salmon, halibut, Lobster Tails, and even Veal dishes, Rack of Lamb, and Baby Back Ribs.

We highly recommend taking a trip to the Avi and the Moonshadow Grille for a nice dinner or special occasion dining.
